KU Cheer Blog
The KU Cheer Blog is where you can read what it's like to cheer at KU straight from the source -- KU cheerleaders!
I'll also post a cell-photo whenever we're doing something fun or interesting so you can be the

First Nationals Weekend
Hey all, we just finished our first weekend with our UCA Nationals choreographer. We had practices all weekend and pretty much learned all the elements for our whole nationals routine for this upcoming year. It was really exciting to see how much progress we have made from last year and how much more difficulty we will be able to incorporate into our routine this year. It was also fun learning new transitions and skills. Adam and I have begun working on our partner stunt routine as well, and I am excited to start filming all of our awesome stunts to send in on our qualifying tape. Starting as early as we have this year, I know we can become a lot better and more clean come time to compete in Orlando in January! Until next time.... ROCK CHALK! ~Hannah

Start of a New Season
Scotty here, starting out our new blog for the site this year, which was added to give everyone out there a different view of what we do as KU cheerleaders. As a 3rd year returner, the start of the football season is always exciting. Regular practices start, as well as open gyms, and the public relations events for the upcoming football season are always exciting. This week in particular, we had several events to go to to celebrate the beginning of the 2007 football season. The first was a Corporate Event for the donors who give lots of their time and money to the KU Football Program. So by doing this event, we can give something back to them in thanks for all that they do. The other event was in Prairie Village, KS which was for the Kansas City Chapter of the Kansas Alumni Association's annual Football Kickoff. Food was served and the event was open to anyone and everyone. At these events we get to meet all the fans, talk to little kids, perform, and sometimes sign autographs (The picture is some of us stunting and cheering before Mangino's speech). Also during this last week, we had our first regularly scheduled practice where we worked on all of our skills. I spent most of my time during our tumbling part of practice where i re-learned my standing full. I had a janky version of one this past winter that i had learned, but it just never looked great. So during the last open gym and the last practice I worked on the correct technique on both of the gym's trampolines and the I worked on it on the regular floor. It looks much better now and feels a lot better as well! Welp, thats all for now! Feel free to scope out the rest of the site as well! See ya out there! ROCK CHALK!! Labels: New Season

UCA Camp in Milwaukee

We just got back from UCA college camp in Milwaukee, which is UCA's biggest college camp. The other big schools there included Kentucky, Arkansas, Illinois, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and some of OU's squad. Overall I'm really proud of how our squad did. We got lots of compliments from the staff and other squads and coaches on how much we've improved and how good the squad looked. During pyramid class, we were able to learn the two elite pyramids from the Demo pretty quickly and overall were very successful in pyramid class. For the Cheer and Sideline competitions, they split the Div1A groups into East and West. East was Kentucky and all the Michigan schools, and we were in West with everyone else listed above. Unfortunately we kinda bombed our Sideline, but we took 1st place in the Cheer! We're really happy with that as it's our first win that I know of at the big Milwaukee camp. We also won awards for Game Planning and Overall Program Improvement. And best of all, we won the "Leadership" award (voted on by the squads at camp) in our division. Check out our Photos page for some camp pics.
