KU Cheerleading Clinics
The University of Kansas Cheerleaders offer a variety of clinic formats to best suit your needs. All our clinics are taught by experienced KU cheerleaders and coaches, and the clinics are small enough that you'll get plenty of individual instruction. To be notified of clinic dates by email, sign up for Email Updates.
2014 Cheer Clinics
Our cheer skills clinics are targeted toward high schoolers but open to all ages. Taught by the KU cheerleaders and coaches, the clinics focus mainly on coed stunting with the KU cheerleaders (ie, you don't need to bring a partner), plus some tumbling and usually a few other things that we vary each clinic.
At Spirit Day, participants cheer with KU's Cheerleaders and Rock Chalk Dancers inside Memorial Stadium for the first half of a KU football game. Cost is $55 per participant which includes game entry, t-shirt, snack, and 1-hour clinic (assuming game-time isn't 11am). Extra football tickets can be purchased for $15 per person, with details in the registration process. For questions, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Open gyms are another way to work on your skills. Some area open gyms that usually have coed stunting are listed below. Note that these open gyms aren't run by or affiliated with KU, and most will require you and/or a parent to sign a waiver prior to participating. Please let me know if any of this information is incorrect!
- LGA in west Lawrence, Mon/Wed 9-11pm ($3)
- G-Force in North Lawrence, Mondays 8:00-10:00pm ($3)
- Cheer Eclipse in Wichita, Mondays 7:30-9:30pm and Thursdays 7:45-9:30pm ($5)
- KCAC in Overland Park, KS Wed 6:30-8:00pm ($8) and Fri 10-noon ($10)
At KU's private cheer clinics, one or more KU Cheerleaders work one-on-one with your squad. We customize the material to your interests and skill level, and we even teach at your preferred location! To schedule a KU private clinic at a cost of $75/participant/day, contact Cat Jarzemkoski at: email@example.com or (785) 864-3002. For private stunt lessons, contact me (Corey) at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can put you in touch with some of our guys.
KU Summer Youth & Team Cheer Camps
Our summer cheerleading camps are open to full squads, partial squads, and individuals from first grade to high school seniors (in separate camps). The high school and middle school camps are mainly for squads, though individuals may attend with a chaperone. KU cheerleaders and coaches teach all-girl stunts, cheers, sidelines, jumps, a dance, routine choreography, and tumbling in addition to some fun games and activities. Campers stay in air-conditioned Naismith Hall with meals provided. Registration and full details are at the KU Spirit Camps site. For questions, contact email@example.com.
